One in four Americans are impacted by skin disease.  Over the past 15 years, we have made massive strides in characterizing and understanding the critical role the skin microbiome plays in skin health.  Going forward, the question now becomes: Can we go from simply observing the skin microbiome to actually shaping it to our benefit?  We believe the tools of metagenomics, synthetic biology, and computational biology will make that happen.​
